My first Skillshare course is a collection of lessons I’ve learned as an actor, writer, teacher, volunteer, and world traveler. The class includes practical tips on everything from headshots to auditioning, but also incorporates a more holistic approach to an industry that often perpetuates the idea that it's movie star or bust. I share lessons that took years of struggling to learn like defining success on your own terms and how to create your own opportunities.

5 keys to a great audition

Working as a casting reader for Broadway and ABC for nearly 5 years was a Masters Class. I read opposite some of the best actors in the business and learned a ton about what casting directors are looking for. The most important lesson I took away was they’re on your side! Casting directors want you to be great so they can cast their show. This lesson alone fundamentally changed how I walked into a room for an audition.

What does an actor do all day? I know my parents certainly wanted to know. One of the most difficult parts of being an actor is learning how to structure your days. It took me years to learn how to set goals, cut out distractions, and use my time most effectively. This is a collection of ideas on how to schedule your priorities and take control of your day.
